We tried the refill station set up by Unilever at Acme Mall Santacruz (W) in Mumbai. It was a smooth experience and it was satisfying to not generate one more piece of packaging waste.Conversations revealed that there are hardly any takers. A refill station like this should be dispensing 100s of litres of detergents every day. Reduce is the first principle of waste management. We want the product not the packaging. Hopefully Unilever and other FMCG companies will be doing more to make refill a viable option. For 3 – 4 years we have ourselves wanted to set up such dispensers but funds were a problem. What do you think of such refill stations? Have you used one? What do you think will increase the number of users?
